Are There Hurricanes To Watch Out For On West Coast Cruises?

I like to avoid cruising in the Caribbean during the late summer because of the possibility of hurricanes that could cause rough seas and disrupt port schedules. Do I need to worry about this on the West Coast for instance taking a cruise from San Diego to the Mexican Riviera?
