I've been on cruises to most of the West Coast destinations we cover here, as well as several "beyond." I'm absolutely thrilled to see Great Lakes cruising and Canada and New England cruising becoming so much more popular in recent years, since they offer a lot of the same cooler weather, cultural exploration and less commercialism that I love about sailing in Alaska.

Two areas I'm really excited about trying soon are a Sea of Cortez cruise and a Panama Canal cruise.

Why Baja And The Gulf Of California Belong On Your Next Booking

I've visited Loreto, Mexico several times, and I absolutely love the Gulf of California and Baja in general: warm calm waters, clean air, incredible amounts of natural beauty and virtually no crowds. It's truly the hidden gem that more people need to consider when booking a West Coast cruise.

If that sounds like your kind of trip, our guide to Sea of Cortez cruises is the place to start.
